The day the earth blew up The Ballad of Wallis Island

Saturday May 09, 2026

Family Film - 3.00 pm: The day the earth blew up

In The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, the classic odd couple Daffy Duck and Porky Pig face a dual crisis: their childhood home is falling into disrepair, and an alien invasion is imminent. After failing a home inspection, the duo takes jobs at a bubblegum factory to fund repairs.

There, they uncover a sinister plot by The Invader, an alien using mind-control gum to turn humanity into mindless zombies. Joined by scientist Petunia Pig, the unlikely heroes must put aside their bickering to thwart the alien scheme and save the world from total destruction.

Evening Film - 7.00 pm: The Ballad of Wallis Island

Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric, grieving widower who won the lottery twice, lives a lonely life on the remote Wallis Island. Obsessed with the defunct indie-folk duo McGwyer Mortimer, he offers a massive fee for a private performance to honour his late wife.

However, Charles secretly invites both members—Herb (Tom Basden) and Nell (Carey Mulligan)—who haven't spoken since a messy breakup a decade prior. Trapped by a storm, the estranged pair must navigate their unresolved baggage and Charles's lack of social boundaries. This heartfelt British comedy explores whether music can bridge the gap between love lost and moving forward.
